Thornbury Real Estate and Homes for Sale

As a real estate agent who specializes in Thornbury, let me be your guide to what Thornbury Ontario has to offer as a neighbourhood to finding homes for sale in the area.

When the remaining settlements were amalgamated with the Town of Thornbury to form the town of Blue Mountains in January of 2001, it did little to impact the area physically. Both Clarksburg and Thornbury are thriving communities today and are situated along the Beaver River's banks at the point where it empties into Georgian Bay. The economy of the area is based primarily on tourism, hence the fact that the amalgamation gave rise to the name Blue Mountains (it was named after the Blue Mountain Ski Resort nearby).

Outdoor and winter sports enthusiasts alike will find plenty to do here. Hikers will enjoy the Bruce Trail which meanders through the Thornbury area on its journey from Collingwood to Meaford while cross-country skiers and mountain bikers will be exploring the Kolapore area. Additionally, the Duncan Crevice Caves Nature Reserve is a popular favorite with rock climbers. If you prefer staying close to the water, you'll enjoy spending time around Thornbury Harbour which is renowned as a pleasure craft haven.

Clarksburg and Thornbury are both recognized for their art, dining venues, live music concerts, and retail shopping areas. Thornbury offers a number of boutique shops, outdoor patios, and restaurants (some offer live music). Clarksburg, which is the smaller village, is known for the Marsh Street Centre, a cultural hub offering concerts, lectures, movies, yoga classes, and more such as its fine art galleries and quaint downtown area.

As a resident of Thornbury, you will be able to take advantage of a number of community services such as a health clinic, a K-8 public school and two preschools, a public library, an 18-hole golf course, and soccer pitches. Georgian College also has two campuses nearby in Collingwood and Owen Sound. If you're looking to purchase your next home in beautiful Grey County, you should consider the Town of Thornbury.
